Ageing with Grace
Immerse yourself in the timeless allure of brass with this stunning bar unit, featuring a facade inspired by the classic brick pattern. The brass is carefully aged through the patina process, giving the piece a distinctive character and vintage charm that exudes both sophistication and rustic appeal. A true work of art that celebrates the beauty of craftsmanship and design ingenuity, this Patina Bar is sure to elevate any space with its timeless elegance.
Ideation & Process
The objective was to create a bar unit that showcased the excellence of craftsmanship and material, tailored to the needs and requirnments of a luxury homeowners in Hyderabad.
In order to create a unique and visually striking facade, I began by meticulously crafting a repetitive pattern with layers and dimensions to enhance the play of light, highlighting the natural patina of the brass.
After finalising the form and composition, 6mm thick brass sheets are bent using a hydraulic press.
3. After welding, brass peices are then treated with amonia, vinager and salt and, placed in an air-tight box for the patina process to take place.
2. The Brass pieces are then welded together in a brick laying pattern.
The welded facade is then fixed onto the Bar frame to ensure proper alignment.
4. After achieving the desired green-blue patina stainn, the brass pieces are then finished with rasin.
